I am loving the Clean and Simple Challenges at Split Coast Stampers. This particular challenge asked us to be inspired by a Vera Bradley purse. I chose this set of bags. They are so colorful and fun!

I dug into my stash. The patterned paper and the card base cardstock were in a clearance pack at Hobby Lobby. The Stickers were from a Summer Set on a Roll from the Dollar Section at Target. The frames I've had for a long time - I think I received them in a swap.

I made two thank you cards, a get well card and a hello card. They were very quick!

PROJECT DETAILS

Flower Stickers: Target
Letter Stickers: Stickabilities, Karen Foster, Making Memories, My Little Shoebox
Paper: My Mind's Eye Kaleidoscope
Cardstock: Lightweight from Hobby Lobby
Frames: Oriental Trading Company (guessing here)
Black Pen: American Crafts

I dug into my collection of Dollar Crafts. These are small kits and projects that I purchased for a dollar or less.

This particular kit was a Red Toile Frame Kit from Hobby Lobby. After the holidays, the scrapbooking kits and supplies go down to as much as 90% off. This particular kit was originally priced $9.99. So, I got there just in time, and purchased it for only .99 cents.

This thick chipboard frame came with a selection of papers, stickers and rub ons and a small sheet of sand paper. There was no acetate to protect a photo, so I decided just to make a holiday greeting.

PROJECT DETAILS

I painted the top of the frame, and the edges (interior and exterior) with Red Roses Acrylic Paint from Making Memories. I applied this with a section of a Hydra Sponge. Once the paint was dry, I gently scrubbed the edges with the sandpaper from the kit, exposing some of the chipboard, and even tearing it in places. I then took another section of a Hydra Sponge and rubbed Chocolate Ink (CTMH) all over it, especially in the exposed areas. The paint and ink made the chipboard look just like some aged wood. Because I used the ink, I heat set the project before adding the papers to the back. I also added rub ons and one of the included embellishments - a tag title with brads.

I've been enjoying blogs for many years, and I've finally decided to start my own, with a little encouragement from all the talented bloggers out there. I have a little more time on my hands these days, and a greater need to use what I've got. I'll share my daily crafting, and include my handmade creations, along with tips and ideas that I've picked up along the way. I love to make little embellishments and card candy pieces, and hope to share them with some of you each week.

Every day, I try to set aside a minimum of one hour to create, and also take some time to research - read blogs, take challenges, enter contests. While I challenge myself to something different for each day of the week I hope that you'll find some inspiration, and some desire to use what you have. Please do comment, I'll pick a random reader each week for a special handmade gift.

If you would like to contact me, please send an e-mail to gracefulsimplicity@gmail.com. I will do my best to try and answer any questions.

PROJECT DETAILS

Quotabilities. I love, love, love quotes, song lyrics, poems, and I'm putting together a book of them. I'll feature a great quote, and the journal page I've put together for it.
Treasure Hunt. There are so many wonderful blogs and challenges out there. I'll find a few and post them, and then decide on one to try.
Technique Twist. I like to try something new, or practice a technique I've created or learned about. I like to make handmade papers and embellishments, but it's not done til you create your own spin on these techniques.
Wild Cards. You never know what I might come up with - it could be any of the projects I do throughout the week, or something completely different. Whatever it is, I hope it will be lots of fun.
Scrap My Stash. I like to create from only my Stash Basket, gifts that I've received, kits I've put together with remnants, odds and ends - to create something new with no added expense.
Dollar Craft Fun. I over-shopped for a long time, but I loved finding dollar items and so I'll be using kits and projects that were purchased for less than one dollar.
Die Cut Fun. Let's get inspired by die cuts - QuicKutz, Sizzix, BossKut, Cricut, and ready made die cuts. I'll embellish them and use them on cards, altered items, and more.
